About Our Eye Care Practice in Charlotte

Dr. David Wichnoski has lived in Charlotte most of his life. He attended local schools and received his B.S. degree in biology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating from the Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Wichnoski performed residency training at William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina. There, he learned a multidisciplinary approach to eye care, which exposed him to many other areas of medicine and has prepared him well to become your primary care eye doctor.

After completing his residency training in 1997, Dr. Wichnoski started Spectrum Eye Care the same year. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the North Carolina Optometric Society.

Dr. Megan Price Osborne joined Spectrum Eye Care in 2008. She received her Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now Salus University). She was chosen to pursue a residency specializing in ocular disease at Seidenberg-Protzko Eye Associates in Bel Air, Maryland. She is originally from Maryland, but moved to North Carolina shortly after completing her residency.

Dr. Osborne’s training and experience have prepared her well for the challenges of primary eye care and the use of technology in diagnosing and managing eye diseases. While practicing in the Charlotte area, she has thoroughly enjoyed providing specialized eye care and continuing to stay up-to-date with new technologies and procedures in the field.

Outside the office, Dr. Osborne enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 kids.  They love the outdoors, listening to live music, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Meredith Hackley, a native of Charlotte, graduated as a student-athlete from the University of South Carolina. (Go Gamecock Volleyball!) She then headed to the Midwest to earn her Doctor of Optometry at Indiana University School of Optometry. She is particularly passionate about helping individuals with visual impairments and fitting contacts. Dr. Hackley is a member of the American Optometric Association and the North Carolina Optometric Society.

As a practitioner, Dr. Hackley commits herself to a patient-focused approach. She takes the time to listen and understand the individual needs of each patient, supporting their best vision and ocular health outcomes. She believes that the best results come from a strong relationship between patient and doctor. She keeps open communication with her patients as a top priority.

Outside of the office, Dr. Hackley enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young children. They love sports, fitness, concerts, time outside, and of course, cheering on their Gamecocks!

Dr. Boldis joined Spectrum Eye Care with more than 10 years of optometric experience. She has provided care in Charlotte Metro since 2017. Dr. Boldis graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Doctor of Optometry and dual Bachelor of Science degrees. As part of her externships, Dr. Boldis conducted her rotations at the Gainesville VA and Eye Centers of South Florida in specialty contact lenses and was selected for the advanced glaucoma and diabetes clinics.

Dr. Boldis is an approachable, patient-focused optometrist who takes the time to care for each patient. She provides personalized care, aiming for patients to leave with an improved appreciation and a better understanding of their overall eye health. She is passionate about eye care innovation as well as health, wellness, and nutrition.

Dr. Boldis is a member of the American Optometric Association and an active board member of the North Carolina Optometric Society.

She was born in Europe and grew up in sunny south Florida. She and her husband relocated to the greater Charlotte area in 2017, which quickly became their home. In her spare time, she and her husband are fitness and nutrition advocates who enjoy traveling, great food, sports, and most importantly, spending time with their daughter.

Dr. Veronica Schuver is a dedicated optometrist from the snowy small town of Lakewood, New York. She earned her doctorate from the Ohio State University. During her externships, she served veterans at the New Orleans VA hospital. In Athens, Georgia, she gained extensive experience in ocular disease, low vision, and specialty contact lenses. She is particularly passionate about helping individuals with visual impairments.

Dr. Schuver has been recognized for her work with multiple awards, including the 2021 Excellence in Low Vision Award. She is an active community member and leader, with a history of serving on state and national optometric leadership boards, such as the American Optometric Association. She was awarded the Ohio Optometric Association’s Leader of the Year in 2020.

Dr. Schuver values making each eye exam personalized and advocating for her patients. She takes the time to educate patients on vision and eye health and will go out of her way to ensure individual needs are met. She considers herself a lifelong scholar and innovator, dedicated to providing the best in eye care.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, cooking, and trying out local restaurants!

Dr. Ryan Wirkus was born and raised in Concord, North Carolina. He became interested in optometry while working at a practice during his undergraduate years at North Carolina State University. From there, Dr. Wirkus decided to pursue a career in optometry and attended graduate school at the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) College of Optometry. Dr. Wirkus externships included Memphis VA Hospital and the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, where he gained valuable training in the treatment of ocular disease, including glaucoma and diabetes.

Dr. Wirkus is a member of the American Optometric Association and the North Carolina Optometric Society.

Dr. Wirkus has practiced in the Charlotte area since 2018. In his free time, he enjoys cheering on the Panthers and Hornets, golfing, running, and traveling with his wife.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Dr. Meagan Embrey earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham before completing a residency at the W.G. Hefner VA Hospital in Salisbury, NC. With over a decade of experience practicing full-scope optometry, she is dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care while emphasizing the critical connection between vision and whole-body health.
Leading the charge with the ReVision Health program, Dr. Embrey’s passion lies in helping patients understand how their overall health impacts their eyes and well-being. As a Certified Integrative Health Coach and Certified Personalized Nutrition Practitioner, she goes beyond traditional eye care, guiding patients through individualized health coaching programs that empower them to make sustainable nutrition and lifestyle choices. She believes in treating each patient like family, fostering strong relationships, and educating them on the steps to achieve optimal health.

Outside the professional realm, Dr. Embrey is a Level 2 CrossFit trainer and fitness is a top priority for her. She also finds joy in outdoor adventures, particularly retreating to the beach whenever possible, culinary pursuits, and cherished moments with her husband living and fulfilling life to its fullest.
Dr. Embrey looks forward to continuing to serve the community at Spectrum Eye Care, fostering ocular health and holistic well-being for all.
